Prosecutors said on Tuesday they plan to charge Lindsay Lohan with felony grand theft of a $2,500 necklace reported stolen from a jewellery store last month — the most serious count the actress has faced in more than three years of trouble with the law.

District Attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison said the charge will be filed Wednesday. Lohan, 24, is due in court for an arraignment on Wednesday afternoon.

Los Angeles police said Feb. 2 that Lohan was under investigation for taking a necklace from a Venice store later identified as Kamofie and Co. Detectives obtained a search warrant to try to retrieve the item from Lohan’s home, but it was turned in to a police station before any search was made.

Police said they had no update on the case Tuesday and did not say whether the actress had made arrangements to turn herself in at court or at a police station.

Robison said bail would be decided by a judge.

A phone message to Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, was not immediately returned. Holley has previously denied any wrongdoing by Lohan.

“We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press,” Holley said in a statement released Saturday.

Arrested twice in 2007, Lohan was charged with drunken driving and drug possession, but both were misdemeanors.

The “Mean Girls” star has been jailed three times in that case, but has been granted a quick release due to jail overcrowding and a requirement that bail be set on misdemeanor cases.
Lohan remains on probation for drunken driving, and a judge has threatened to throw her in jail if she runs into trouble again.

Prosecutors in Riverside County have been considering whether to press charges against Lohan for a December altercation with a worker from the Betty Ford Center, where she was being treated.

The treatment, her fifth rehab session, came after she admitted failing a drug test shortly after being granted early release from another treatment program.

Lohan’s court struggles and treatment have taken a serious toll on the former Disney star’s career. Her role as porn star Linda Lovelace in a biopic was recast last year while Lohan was at Betty Ford and no replacement projects have been announced.

She had been due in court on Feb. 25 for a probation status hearing and a judge had said he would be willing to loosen the terms of her probation if she remained out of trouble.

The actress, who recently completed court-ordered rehab to cure her drug and alcohol addictions, is being investigated for the theft, reported a source.

The 24-year-old actress reportedly wore the jewelry while visiting a shop, and cops have demanded a judge to give them a search warrant.

A Los Angeles court is expected to issue a search warrant for cops to find the piece of jewelry in the star’s Venice Beach home.

“Lindsay is being accused of stealing high end jewelry, including a necklace. A search warrant was requested Tuesday at the Airport Court to search Lindsay’s house for the item of jewelry in question,” said a source in law enforcement.

“Lindsay has been photographed and there is video of her wearing the jewelry she is accused of stealing,” the source added.

The Mean Girls star’s representative has not responded to the accusation but an associate reportedly brought the necklace to the Pacific Division police station. If found out that she stole the necklace, Lohan would be charged with a felony.

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan’s mother Dina has banned her ex-husband Michael from seeing their daughter because he has allegedly been spreading falsehood that Lindsay tried to buy drugs.

Dina alleges that her former spouse has been telling lies that Lindsay — currently undergoing rehabilitation treatment in Los Angeles — tried to buy drugs this week. She has now made the decision to cut him out of the actress’ life — completely.

Lindsay has been told of her mother’s wishes and she reportedly agrees with the decision.

“Lindsay’s father Michael, my ex-husband, sold a totally untrue story saying Lindsay tried to buy drugs again. It’s quite simply nonsense. She hasn’t even set foot outside the Betty Ford Clinic,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted Dina as saying.

“It’s terribly sad that when Lindsay needs the support of her friends and family most, her father would betray her like this. For her sake and in the interests of her swift recovery, we feel it’s best that Michael has no contact with his daughter whatsoever. This has been discussed with Lindsay and she agrees that this is the best course of action,” she said.

Dina, 48, has also ordered the staff at the Betty Ford Clinic to not let Michael see Lindsay for any reason.

“We have spoken to the clinic and Lindsay has given instructions that Michael is not to be allowed access. She needs support and a calming environment at this time and his presence will not help matters,” she said.

It’s probably not the comeback she would have preferred, but troubled actress Lindsay Lohan checked back into a rehab centre after taking drugs in violation of her probation.

“You just have to be supportive of your friends. She’s a strong girl and I just wish her the best,” said the socialite.

After two prison stints and a confession to drug addiction, Hollywood beauty Lindsay Lohan is finally making an effort to clean up her image.

Just hours after being released from a 14-hour prison spell, the 24-year-old visited a church near downtown Los Angeles which specialises in caring for the city’s homeless.

The Mean Girls star was accompanied by her mum Dina, her sister Ali and her new manager Lou Taylor, as she spent an hour talking to some of the centers residents and signing autographs, reported TMZ online.

Lindsay Lohan, who is reportedly heading back to rehab within the next few days, then took to micro-blogging website Twitter to share her experience.

“What a great place The Dream Center is here in LA. Had a nice time there today, it’s so important to give back. I feel blessed,” she tweeted.

The visit occurred just hours before shocking photographs surfaced showing Lindsay back in 2007 using a syringe to inject herself with what is believed to be heroin.

The pictures show a very thin looking Lohan posing with the syringe with a tourniquet wrapped around her arm and injecting the substance into her left wrist.

In another photograph an unknown person injects Lohan in her lower back.

The former child star was remanded to jail at the Lynwood County Correctional Facility after she failed two court ordered drugs tests that were part of her probation terms from a 2007 drink driving case.

Judge Elden Fox initially refused Lohan bail, meaning she could have stayed in jail until her next court hearing on October 22nd, but the stars lawyer Shaun Chapman Holley appealed the decision and got the ruling overturned allowing her to post a $300,000 bail and be released from jail.

Lindsay Lohan is now free until the next court date but has been ordered to wear a scram device, which she was hiding under long boots, and avoid any location where alcohol can be purchased.

It is believed at the October court hearing Lohan will be ordered to serve 30 days in jail for every individual probation violation.

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has defied the odds again and has been released from jail after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge overturned a decision to put the actress back behind bars.

The sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore had told the media that Lohan would have to serve the full 30 days she was sentenced to for failing two drug tests and violating her probation, but reports suggest the Mean Girls star has already left Lynwood correctional facility after just 10 hours.

“Ms. Lohan cannot be released early because this isn’t a jail sentence. She’s being held by court order until her hearing,” contactmusic.com quoted Whitmore as saying before Lohan was released.

According to the report, Lohan’s attorney Shawn Chapman Holley appealed to Judge Elden S. Fox’s to remand the actress in custody without bail until Oct 22.

Lohan walked free Friday night after posting a $300,000 bail, contactmusic.com added.

It’s the third time Lohan has served a fraction of her sentence at Lynwood – earlier this year, she spent just 13 days of a 90-day sentence behind bars.

Lohan has been asked to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet again under the terms of her release and she won’t be allowed to associate with known drug users.

Judge Elden Fox could schedule a formal probation revocation hearing 30 days from tomorrow. If Judge Fox decides to go that route he could order the Mean Girls star to go to jail immediately and stay there until the formal hearing.

However, if she is sentenced to 30 days she could end up serving no time at all due to jail overcrowding.

Lindsay Lohan can’t steer clear of trouble. Just days after she was released from a jail and rehab stint, witnesses accused her on Friday of hitting a baby stroller with her Maserati and then leaving the scene.

Footage of the immediate aftermath of the incident was posted on RadarOnline.com by a paparazzi. In the video the baby in the stroller appears to be crying while the baby’s nanny pushes the stroller across the street looking back at Lohan’s car.

The incident allegedly occurred Thursday afternoon in the West Hollywood neighbourhood where Lohan lives. The 24-year-old star reportedly turned right from a parking garage in her Maserati and clipped the nanny and baby.

“Lindsay pulled to the right, stopped for two seconds, and then just kept going,” witness Brayan Jaime told RadarOnline.com, in an exclusive interview. “I asked the kid if she was okay and then asked the woman, but she was kind of shocked and didn’t really know what to say and you could tell she was scared.”

Troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has issued a cease and desist letter to her father ordering him to stop trying to sell her personal property.

The actress who was recently released from court ordered rehab following a stint in jail, claims that her father Michael Lohan is trying to sell her personal diary, according to reports.

The 24-year-old actress has been estranged from her father for some time now and blames many of her problems on him.

The website reports that Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley has sent the letter to Lohan’s representative, Lisa Bloom.

Lindsay claims that her father is trying to sell excerpts from her private diary that she kept while in drug rehab at Cirque Lodge in Utah in 2007.

The lawyer claims her client had no idea her father was in possession of the diary and did not give him permission to sell or distribute it.

She goes on to say that Lohan’s attempts to cash in are “shameful” and that Lindsay is “appalled”.

Chapman Holley warns that if Lohan tries to sell the diary, or any other of Lindsay’s belongings, her client will exercise all her legal rights and seek damages for a “grave
invasion of privacy”.

It’s not the first time Lohan has attempted to make money off of his daughter’s name. Last year he released a series of voicemail messages that he claimed his daughter had left for him to a website for an undisclosed sum.
