GEORGE CLOONEY bought a female fan a new car after damaging her vehicle in an accident.
The Ocean Elevens star was driving in Pennabilli, Italy when he shunted an unnamed woman’s car from behind.
Clooney accepted the blame for the incident – and made the generous gesture of giving her a brand new car.
When the woman went to collect her vehicle from the repairers, she discovered the movie star had splashed out $28,000 (GBP14,000) on a new replica of her Lancia Ypsilon model.
And he had even left her a note of apology on the windscreen, saying: “I’m so sorry. Hope you’ll forgive me. George Clooney.”

Weehawken Police Sergeant Sean Kelly has revealed the accident on Friday (21Sep07) happened when Clooney tried to pass a 1999 Mazda Millenia that was attempting a right hand turn from the left lane. Sargeant Kelly says, “It’s a he-said, she-said right now, but you can’t pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey.”

Clooney suffered a rib fracture and grazes in the accident and his new girlfriend Sarah Larson, who was his passenger, had two broken toes. They were both taken to the Palisades Medical Center for treatment but have since been released.

The Oscar-winning film star was riding on a narrow road when his bike collided with a car. His girlfriend, who was on the two-wheeler with the actor, broke her foot in the accident.

Clooney and his companion, Sarah Larson, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The actor’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said: “He’s doing fine. He has a broken rib, it’s very painful and it’ll take a long time to heal.”

The Associated Press news agency reports a local police officer as saying that Clooney’s motorcycle had accelerated to overtake a Mazda as both vehicles approached a right turn.

Sergeant Sean Kelly, who is investigating the accident, said: “It’s a he-said, she-said right now, but you can’t pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey.”

Clooney’s publicist told the news agency that the accident occurred after the driver of the car turned right in spite of signalling the other way.
