Christian Bale does not take well to criticism. The latest victim of the actor’s expletive laden rants is a critic who called his weight loss for The Fighter a gimmick.
Bale, who famously had a meltdown during the filming of Terminator: Salvation and has fallen out with his mother and sister, lashed out at the critic, saying it was patronising to be labelled for his weight loss.
The British actor has earned an Oscar nomination for his role of a drug-addicted welterweight figher Dicky Eklund in the movie, which saw him becoming dangerously thin.
The star has previously lost weight for roles in the movies The Machinist and Rescue Dawn, the Daily Mail reported.
“To be honest, I find it laughable that it’s considered to be some gimmick – it’s so patronising. For God’s sake, do people not understand what a pain it is to do? It’s as though it’s some comment about, ‘Oh it’s easy for him, because he’s done it a bunch of times’,” Bale said using expletives.
“It’s not easy, it’s not fun – it’s horrible. I would never pick to do that, but it’s a part that I like and he’s a welterweight and he’s a crack head. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen a welterweight with any fat on him – or a crack head. So it’s just what you end up having to do,” Bale added while reserving some expletives for the critic.
