Hollywood romances are so hit or miss. With the pressures of celebrity, it’s like everything has to be absolutely perfect in order to have a lasting relationship. And it looks like another one has bitten the dust.

Reese Witherspoon may have jumped back into the dating pool too soon. Only five months after she split from ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, the actress took on a whole new relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.

The couple started dating in March, and went full-speed ahead from the beginning. Jake met her mother, bonded with her kids, and pretty much filled the Ryan-shaped-hole in Reese’s life. And it looks like she should’ve taken more time before becoming romantically involved.

“She cares for Jake, but the timing is crappy,” says a source close to Witherspoon. “She doesn’t have enough emotional space for him right now.”
Another insider reports, “She has either called it off or is just taking a break.”
And the story is the same from Jake’s end. A source close to the actor was recently told by Jake, “I’m single.”
